Pwnag tool 2.2
You are allowed to change boot logos and add pre-installed packages to the IPSW. Please note that the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S are not supported, as there is no publicly available bootrom exploit like Pwnage , Pwnage 2. PwnageTool was released 3 April but largely unused until version 2.
The following versions that are shown here are not beta, alpha, or in development. This enables a lot more features such as pre-installed packages, BootNeuter iPhone software unlock , custom packages and boot logos.
This method is usually less secure than the quick exploits such redsn0w , QuickPwn , purplera1n , blackra1n , etc. This method does have negative aspects. The most common errors are the 16xx range of errors , which mean that the either the firmware file is corrupt or you didn't put it in the right mode Recovery, DFU Mode.
Sometimes the problems could just be a computer problem such as the memory is full or the USB port is broken. The most common error is Error which means that the firmware file is corrupted. This repo contains all of my research and progress trying to get the latest version of Cydia running on iPhone OS 2. To read more about PwnageTool, click here. This mod also restores the feature of downloading Cydia packages back to PwnageTool, so if you need to download any Cydia packages, you may do so without fail.
Just make sure to install all dependencies for your package as well. However , Cydia itself does have one quirk that I cannot seem to solve. When Cydia is launched, it always returns an Unable to Load untrusted server certificate error. I suspect that Cydia doesn't issue trusted certificates on iPhone OS 2. Please let me know if you managed to fix this error. Here is the download to my custom iPhone OS 2. It should be sufficient for anyone who just wants to get iPhone OS 2.
Of course, if you want to customize your own firmware or add your own packages, you may do so with the provided PwnageTool app.
Nothing in the UI has changed so you should create your firmware as you would normally. This is likely the furthest I will go with this project. I've done countless testing with various versions of WinPwn and QuickPwn , all without success. None of them install a version of Cydia that wants to update to the latest version. I decided to settle on using PwnageTool because I read this article which showed how to add non-native firmware support to PwnageTool.
This step is very important so make sure you follow the instructions correctly. PwnageTool will ask you to hold the home and power button for 10 seconds. Then release the power button while still holding the home button for 10 seconds. Your iPhone will then enter DFU mode. If you fail, PwnageTool will give you the opportunity to start this process again.
Simply unplug your iPhone, reboot it, plug it back in, and turn off the iPhone when PwnageTool asks you to. Note: Mac OS X Another way to do this is to run the Automator Script. Launch PwnageTool. You will then be asked to enter your admin password.
